Why is every beautiful and valuable-looking gemstone cursed in this stupid kingdom?

Into the princess's bedroom, steal the diamond, and back out again. But no, that green thing has an anti-theft curse.

Aisling the Thief stands naked and shivering on the cold floor of the princess's bedroom as the floor begins to shake. She clutches her loot when, a moment later, two enormous bare feet appear beside her.

"Hey... uhm... miss princess, this is a... misunderstanding?"

As the princess menacingly raises her foot, Aisling's new squeaky voice almost cracks. "Whoa, stop, no need for unnecessary violence. The diamond is still here, and you don't want a squashed thief on your precious carpet. Perhaps I can still be of service... as... uh... entertainment? A toy?... maybe."

Aisling looks hopefully at the raised foot. What will the princess decide?
