When Nicole was contacted by a mysterious client, she was initially hesitant. But after a particularly quiet month, and with mounting debts, she couldn't afford to be selective of jobs. Tempted by the promise of "more Dennies than she could carry," she quickly accepted the job. It sounded simple enough, clear some Ethereals out of the Hollow, seemingly legit as she knew not many were working at the moment.
She made short work of the Ethereals, as a fissure opened up in front of her. Advised to go through it, she soon found herself stepping into a dimly lit room with a short drop down to the floor. She stepped over a large cord, stepping onto a strange, raised platform with elevated tiles sticking out of it. She tentatively stepped on one as it clicked underneath her boot. As she stepped onto it, light streamed from behind her. Startled, she looked back to find a giant screen, the stage of the hollow she just cleared pictured on it. Confused, she turned back to see the platform she was standing on now illuminated, revealing it being a giant keyboard. Stunned, she quickly crossed the platform, looking around to examine the giant room.
"Well done, Nicole, you cleared the Ethereals," a voice spoke from above.
"W-who's there?" Nicole demanded, "And where's my reward? I don't work for free, you know!"
"Of course, your reward..." The voice continued from above, as Nicole watched a giant hand place a stack of Denny next to her.
"Hey! There's only 100 Dennies here! You promised..." Nicole's expression turned from one of worry to one of annoyance and disappointment.
"More money that you can carry. Of course, if you can carry more, feel free to demonstrate." The man smugly retorted, as Nicole wondered what he had planned...
