Lily in a Vase

When Lily unexpectedly shrunk to a few inches tall in the garden park, there wasn't anyone else around her. She was too weak to pull her phone out of her enormous purse, so she had to find some other way to get help, but first she needed to do something about her nudity.

She fashioned a toga out of a scrap of fabric she found caught on a low branch, but all the people--now giants to her--terrified her, and she wasn't sure if she could trust them. After a few days of avoiding animals and foraging for food, she started to despair. But it was nothing compared to the chills she felt upon hearing the familiar voice say, "What do we have here?"

Before she could react, she was plucked up by a giant hand. Everything that happened next was an unrecognizable blur until she was released, landing with a splash and a thud. She stood in the ankle-deep pool of water and looked up. She was in some kind of pit, the opening above her head beyond her reach. The walls were made of curved glass, distorting the unfamiliar environment outside, until she saw the flowers. The scented aroma of her prison now made sense; she was trapped inside a vase.

Suddenly, the gigantic and refracted face of her captor appeared, startling Lily so much she backed up against the far side of the vase, ducking and almost losing her balance. "Why so afraid, little one?" echoed the voice from outside. "You know who I am."

It was Gayle, Lily's boyfriend's ex, probably the worst person to find her in her shrunken state. "Gayle, please, help me. I don't know what happened to me, or how I got this way, but you've got to call Drew."

"Oh, I'll be calling Drew, for sure." Gayle smirked. "In a few more days, when he hasn't heard from you, he's gonna need someone to console him. Until then--and until he gets me some to show his appreciation--you'll be my precious little flower."

As Gayle walked away snickering, Lily wilted, the seriousness of her situation finally taking root. She wasn't going anywhere.
