The goddess Daiwen brought protection and prosperity to the land, only asking that every year the people bring the most beautiful woman of the land to her palace as an offering. Only those inside the palace knew her intentions for them: They were to become her heavenly consorts, granted eternal youth and immortality, the latter they would need to survive what she had in store for them!
